Varvara Frol was born in the heartland of Russia’s arms industry, in a city known for producing AK-47 machine guns, deep forests and pagan's beliefs. She spent her childhood in her mother's atelier where she explored the mysteries of fashion production and design. Her first field of artistic study was a cello class. Varvara studied Fine Arts and Costume Design at the Udmurt State University and completed a Documentary Film course at The Andrzej Wajda's Film School in Warsaw. Her work combines art, design, fashion and new technologies.

Varvara's art has been exhibited in many galleries around the world including Triennale of Milano Art Theatre in Milan; ART BASEL in Miami Beach, Tabloid Gallery in Tokyo; Centre Pompidou in Paris; Moscow International Biennale for Young Art, National Centre for Contemporary Art in Moscow; National Audiovisual Institute in Warsaw; Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw; CaixaForum in Barcelona and Bunkier Sztuki in Krakow.
